Wednesday 30th April
Went back for the results of the lymph node clearance today. They removed 20 nodes and they were all clear!!!!! I was not expecting this to be honest so this is brilliant news!!!! As only two nodes were affected (found during the biopsy) this means there is no need for a full body scan. This makes me a little nervous and I do wonder if I should insist on one. Dunno.
I developed a seroma under my lymph node scar and so had it drained today. I didn't feel a thing but my god the amount of liquid she drained out was shocking!! About a pint and a half I reckon. Yuck.
I met another Oncologist, who was younger than me, which just seems wrong. She is officially my Oncologist now. She gave me a form to read and sign which listed the possible side effects of the Chemo which are all pretty grim. At the top of the page she had ticked the box next to "treatment to prevent cancer returning" I was really happy to see this. As far as I'm concerned this means I'm gonna be ok, I'm gonna to LIVE!!! Wow!!!
I asked the Oncologist about taking various vitamins and supplements. I have started an "anti cancer" diet you see. She didn't seem too keen on this and told me not to put any pressure on myself. I've been following the diet for two weeks now and feel good about it so will continue. Plus everyone is telling me how well I look so it must be doing some good. The anti cancer diet includes cutting dairy, meat and sugar. Sounds grim doesn't it, but I'm actually enjoying it. Plus it gives me a bit of control. On the plus side those with cancer are advised to eat a square of 75%+ cocoa chocolate every day. What a shame for me!!! I've ordered in some Peruvian raw Cacao nibs for my smoothies. Yum. Lindt will have to suffice for now.
I've been buying some bizarre supplements, water distillers, natural products and so on like a mad woman. Perhaps its all bollocks but I don't care. I will try anything now. I plan to turn my body into a cancer fighting temple. Its amazing what you will do when your life depends on it.
I have a couple of weeks to chill out before Chemo starts on the 19th May. As it will take place in three week cycles this means that I will be going for my second dose on my birthday! Gutted!! Ah well there will be plenty more!!!!
