Monday 21st April
It has been almost two weeks since the operation and I'm finally feeling much better. It feels like its been a very slow recovery but I suppose if you consider its only been two weeks then that's not too bad.
I went back to the hospital last week. That was hard work. Here I was told that I need to have my lymph nodes removed on my left side, the right is fine. The reason for this is because they did a lymph node biopsy at the same time as my op. They removed four and found cancerous cells in two of them, so the nodes need to go. This operation will take place tomorrow. The thought of going back in to have more anaesthetic and pain relief makes me want to crawl under a rock, but it has to be done. Apparently I will be in and out as a day case tomorrow. Hope so.
Had my bandages removed and I wasn't horrified or anything so that's good. I think I look a bit odd in my clothes now, there is something missing after all. The fact that they have gone doesn't really bother me though.
I met the Oncologist who reckons I will have six rounds of Chemo (i think that's what she said) and this will start about two weeks after the lymph node removal. The Chemo I will start on is called FEC, which will make me lose my hair. Apparently it will start to fall out about 10 days after my first round. I've been trawling the internet for scarves and so on, hmmm which look to go for?
I've been having a feel of my head (now that I can lift my arms that far) and I've realised its really small. I hope it doesn't look out of proportion to the rest of my body. I keep thinking about Pinhead off the film Beetlejuice. Won't be that bad I'm sure!!
Hope all goes well tomorrow Kim....Thinking of you.
