FEC You Cancer!!!

Tuesday 27th May

One down, five to go.

My first three Chemo rounds are called FEC  which stands for Fluorouracil, Epirubiciu and Cyclopphosphomide. Heavy duty stuff.

First of all I had to take about 12 tablets, steroids and anti sickness drugs apparently. Felt odd as I'm usually reluctant to take paracetamol! Oh how things change!  As the chemo drugs started to go in I began to feel a bit spaced out, a little bit drunk. It was quite pleasant actually.  The nurse reckons it was actually the steroids which were making me feel spaced. Next minute I was starving (the steriods) and so my anti cancer diet went out of the window and I devoured a bacon butty. It was amazing. I have decided that I will eat what I like on Chemo day. That's fair enough isn't it.

The red stuff, which can be seen on the photos turns your wee bright red, was a bit of a shock when I went to the loo. I'm drinking loads of water to flush the drugs out.

So far I feel ok. Still spaced and a little bit confused. Its actually taken me almost an hour to write this, I seem to be on a go slow.  My brain is not on fully operational mode, so I'm sorry if this page doesn't make any sense. Apparently side effects will kick in in a few hours, but you never know I might be lucky.

Next time you see me I'll have a grade 2 or 3!! I'm hoping it'll look quite cool.

  2. Hi Kim, hope you're not feeling too many side effects. Your hair really suits you short. And, there are some lovely shades of ginger, I think titian is really eye catching. Did you order long or short wigs ? You have still got your sense of humour I see, keep it up....Jac

  3. Titian! Ha! Niiiice! I've gone for chin length wigs Jac, as that was where my hair was when I went into the salon. Trying on on Friday if I'm well enough to go. Not exactly looking forward to it. K x

  4. Hi Kim, just been reading through your blogs and wanted to say it's great that you are keeping your sense of humour through all this and hope that you continue to remain positive. I saw a thing on facebook during the breast cancer awareness day/week that swept the globe (the one where you were asked to post a 'no-make up selfie' and donate too) it featured a few young women who had lost their hair from chemo but rather than go for wigs or scarves they had their heads decorated with henna tatoo's they looked brill, perhaps an option for you to consider?

keep up with your commentary, they are an inspiration for us all.
